Tesco Home Insurance has announced that any customers buying a home insurance policy on or before Saturday 21st June 2008 will be offered a 33 percent discount on the purchase.

The deal is available to all new customers who buy their policy either over the telephone or over the internet where they can receive a further 10 percent reduction in cost. The offer applies to a one year policy covering building and contents.

“This represents a substantial discount on home insurance,” said Allan Burns of Tesco Home Insurance.

“Even if your policy doesn’t expire in the next couple of months, it’s worth getting a quote to see what’s on offer.”

Earlier in the month, Tesco announced that it was launching a new life insurance product for the over 50s. Customers aged 75 or below can purchase the cover without being subjected to a medical check-up and the policy pays out a one-off, tax-free sum to the beneficiary.
