It is believed that up to one in ten homes is broken into and stolen from whilst, the owners are on holiday. The price of personal belongings stolen in each incident is supposed to average about £3,288. This can happen even when the residents of the household are on a brief trip away, even as short as a daytrip or a weekend away, according to research performed by Churchill home insurance.
Claire Foster: spokesperson for Churchill insurance had this to say on the issue “Arriving back from holiday or a quick break to discover your home has been broken into is an awful experience for anyone to endure.” She further commented that “While insurance cannot prevent burglary, it can provide reassurance that the monetary value of anything is covered.”
The research carried out also depicts that there is a reduction in the pattern of stereo, TV theft, as it is believed that thieves have now set their sights upon portable easy to carry items that are of high price. Videos, CDs and DVDs make up about 44% of personal belongings which are stolen. Jewellery made up of 43%, in addition to money, cheque books and credit cards, which combined came to 42%.
