A petition by the Mail's Play Fair petition calling on insurance providers to offer a favourable deal has been presented to the Association of British Insurers. Reports have suggested that some insurance companies have continued to blacklist flood prone areas.
The petition which calls on the industry to give everyone a reasonable deal on their home insurance cover, whether they were affected by the floods or not, has today been presented to the Association of British Insurers (ABI).
But the Association of British Insurers, which represents the industry, has denied there was a blacklist on residents in certain regions. Despite 12 months having past since the June 25 deluge a staggering 1,476 households in Hull and 750 in the East Riding are being forced to live in caravans and other temporary accommodation.
Now as the Government commissioned report into the flooding across the country, is made public its author, Sir Michael Pitt, has also called for action.
He said: “I want to see more done, I think the one thing that really sticks in my mind and continues to concern me is the fact several thousand families are still displaced from their homes and I think it's very hard to appreciate the degree of hardship that is involved.”
