Churchill insurance has been censored by the ASA (Advertising Standards Authority) for making a false claim in its home insurance ads broadcast on T.V. last year.
The false claim was to do with the famous nodding dog claiming that its home insurance customers could make a claim on their home insurance without filling out any paper work. This falsity was highlighted after a Churchill customer complained to the ASA after he was sent a form to fill out after making a claim on his home insurance.
The insurance company did admit that around 40 percent of claims need to be referred to a claims validation unit, where around half of the claims investigated by the unit would be sent a declaration or statement form to complete.
Churchill insurance have agreed to not repeat the false claim in the adverts any more, also pointing out that they have not shown the advert since June.
A Churchill spokesperson commented on the situation saying that "Churchill has not screened the ads since June and has taken actions to ensure the claims do not appear in any future marketing campaigns."
