Home Insurance - Homeowners unsatisfied with the government - 04/09/2008

It appears that government steps taken to try to assist homeowners have not exactly been greeted with open arms. Many UK homeowners strongly believe that the government are not doing all that they can to ensure that the average UK home is not repossessed.

After a significant period of applied pressure from UK based estate agents, Chancellor Alistair Darling is planning to initiate a “buy and rent back scheme” which will see owners who are struggling to meet up with repayments able to sell their home to a landlord, who in turn then leases the property back to them.

One of the main concerns for families is the ever increasing cost of living, which has put confines on many household incomes, leading to many expenses being defaulted on. Expenses like home insurance could be omitted for a few months just to ease the strain just a bit, however if during that period a household appliance such as a boiler was to break down, with no contents insurance the repercussions could prove very costly indeed.
