Following the news that many home insurance holders are turning to DIY in their homes rather than financing a professional, news from insurance company Sheila’s Wheels has stated that an increasing amount of women are damaging property in their abode by attempting to beautify themselves on the cheap.
The company calculated that accidents which involved beauty products totalled an average of £153 last year, a number which is in danger of being topped this year.
Jacky Brown at Sheilas' Wheels home insurance, said: "Dyes, lotions and cosmetics can stain and many hair styling gadgets can reach extremely high temperatures and may cause considerable damage if left on accidentally."
The statistics show that 85 per cent have admitted to damaging their carpet with hair tongs, and 53 per cent said they had damaged bed linen with fake tan.
