A growing of number of homeowners in the UK have no content cover on their home insurance policy, it has been revealed.
According to Halifax Home Insurance about one in ten British households are affected by this lack of adequate and that they risk losing their valuable possessions for good in the event of an accident or burglary or any unforeseen misfortune.
A study by the bank further showed that almost half of participants have no idea of how much their valuables are worth and that another three quarters have never had their collectibles or antique possessions valued by an expert.
Head of underwriting at Halifax Home Insurance David Rochester reminded that in the event of burglary or theft people might want to make a claim for compensation.
However, this anyone hoping to do this must make sure, in addition to purchasing content cover, they have their possessions valued by an expert at least every two years and have a dated copy of the valuation certificate.
