A home insurance company has revealed that homeowners would rather look for a cheaper home insurance policy that reduce their Sky or cable subscription to make savings.
A study showed that 28% of people in the UK would shop around to reduce their home cover premium compared to just 14% who said they were willing to cut their television services.
However, customers who do wish to look for cheaper insurance should remember to check that the new policy suits their needs.
Garry Skelton, marketing director at the firm, said that it is unsurprising homeowners are looking to make savings in the current recession.
“But we would just add a word of caution to ensure that household insurance customers are careful and do not find themselves with cover that is less than they really need, in return for that cheaper premium,” he stated.
The British Insurance Brokers Association recently described home insurance cover as an “absolute must” and urged homeowners to look elsewhere to reduce their outgoings.
