As the warm and pleasant summer climate is enjoyed by people in the UK, a new warning has been issued to households in the country.
The warning, which comes from an insurance firm, draws their attention to increasing incidents of burglary.
It is during the course of the summer that the peak of home insurance claims arising from burglaries is reached, a study claimed.
Last year nearly one million homes were burgled over the summer, it was further revealed.
Homeowners have, as such, been advised by insurers to make sure they take more urgent steps to lower their vulnerability to intruders that could target their homes and valuable possessions.
Apart from the threat from burglars homeowners were recently reminded that the schools summer holiday could mean more risk of accidents at home with young children spending more time at home.
The risk, they were further told, could increase as many people may not be travelling abroad on holiday and would be at home throughout the period.
They were therefore urged to make sure they have adequate home insurance policies in place.
