The Association of British Insurers (ABI) have pointed out that since the early 1960s, safety for flood-induced damages has been a major feature of contents and buildings insurance.
The UK was hit by heavy rain and strangely high winds over the weekend, leading to uncertainties that few areas would shortly be affected by severe flooding. According to the analysis by Environment Agency, the usual household will suffer from damages of approximately £28,000 if their homes are flooded.
