A famous plumber has recommended ways homeowners could save on their home insurance policy this New Year.
With the UK currently coming to a standstill because of the snow, blizzards and ice, Charlie Mullins of a pluming firm, has warned of an increased chance of problems with burst pipes and heating systems.
Such problems can result in an expensive emergency call-out having to be made - which could hit home insurance customers either in their own pocket or with the loss of their no-claims bonus.
Such issues are even more likely to occur, as the Met Office warned that “severe frost and ice” will remain in most parts of the country for several more days.
However, Mr Mullins commented that property owners do not have to fall victim to the big freeze: “There are instant steps homeowners can take to reduce their risk of problems now, plus many ways they can act to protect their property and bank balance in the long run.”
His tips include running taps regularly to keep water moving and prevent pipes freezing and leaving loft hatches ajar to let warm air reach the water tank.
