The Office of National Statistics has revealed recently that the life expectancy of residents from South of England region is the highest as compared to any others. The statistics took into account the whole of England and the conclusions were made taking into account the life expectancy from birth. These conclusions by the Office of National Statistics were released for the years 2006-2008.
In the south east of England, the life expectancy was seen to be 79.2 years for men, while it was a notch above for women in the South west at 83.1 years. In stark contrast to this, Scotland has the lowest life expectancy from birth, at 75 years for men and 79.9 years for women.
The good news however, is that the overall life expectancy at birth has increased over the period of 1993 to 2006-08 in all the regions of the UK.
The biggest improvement came in terms of an increase in life expectancy for London. Here the life expectancy rose by 4.9 years for men and 3.4 years for women.
It is findings like these that have prompted an increase in the age brackets for a number of life insurance companies as life expectancy has increased.
