At a recently concluded meeting with the institute for public policy research, Stephen Haddrill, the director general for the Association of British Insurers suggested that there should be a system put into place to partially compensate the dependants of the victims having life insurance policies. He concluded at the conference for joint savings, assets and protection that at least a partial payment be made. While claimants waited for long legal processes to get completed, this partial payment would serve to take care of their financial needs in the interim.
Mr. Haddrill suggested that a certain sum of the money be paid to the claimants right away, after a near one passes away, as it would help them overcome financial constraints. They could use this money while the legal processes take place.
A spokesperson for the Association of British insurers, claimed that in order to make this provision possible, permission from the HM Revenue & Customs would have to be sought. If things fall into place, Claimants will be able to get money, directly and without tax cuts. In addition to this, life insurance buyers will be able to nominate more than one beneficiary in their policies.
