Britons Travelling To Nepal Told To Be Cautious - 04/04/2008
|
The Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) has warned Britons travelling to Nepal to make sure their travel insurance policy covers them for travel to altitudes over 2,500 meters before heading off.
The FCO also suggested that those setting off for Nepal need to take out full insurance cover for medical treatment, accidents and evacuation by helicopters.
It further advised travellers to avoid large gatherings and demonstrations as there is likely going to be shutdowns at the time of elections.
This warning comes as many of travellers may be planning some trekking in the country and the political situation has been anything but stable. With elections holding on April 10, 2008, things could get more uncertain, reports have said.
It will be recalled that last month the FCO issued a warning to Britons travelling on Easter break to make sure they took out adequate travel insurance that would cover them in case things went wrong. The warning specifically pointed at senior travellers whom it said were often heading off without travel insurance and taking part in activities that were likely to put them at great risks.
In another development Britons planning on taking several Spanish holidays in a year have been urged to plan ahead so as to save money on travel insurance.
It is much easier to organise travel insurance if people know how many holidays they are taking in a year, said Motley Fool, adding that “it helps to know where you will be travelling in advance. Europe-only insurance policies are cheap.”
While it is better for those planning a luxury holiday in Spain to take out single trip cover, anyone thinking of taking several flights to Spain in one year is better off with annual travel insurance because it is cheaper.
