Travel Insurance - Travel without insurance and risk paying thousands - 02/09/2008

There are plenty of reasons to take out travel insurance yet some still don’t, but after an 85 year old man was faced with a £77,000 bill it’s just another stark reminder that travel insurance is an essential part of going on holiday.

The unlucky traveller was in America when he was struck down with pneumonia and then suffered further complications, all of which cost him £77,000. The high medical costs could of been avoided if he had taken out an over 80s travel insurance policy which would of cost around £100.

This story was discovered during a survey carried out by Insurefor.com which also discovered that almost a third of those questioned considered travailing without insurance.

Many where not taking out insurance as a short term measure to save money on travelling, yet if the worst was to happen travellers could be faced with a bill of thousands.

This survey has acted as a stark reminder of the essential need for travel insurance.
