Insurance experts have advised holidaymakers heading on to sport trips to make sure that their travel insurance covers equipment such as golf clubs.

The British Insurance Brokers Association(BIBA) suggested that some items may be covered by an individual’s home insurance but, it is also important to check in case they are lost, damaged or stolen.

Graeme Trudgill, a technical and corporate affairs executive for Biba stated: “Ferrying of your baggage varies greatly between different policies. Some have a £2,000 limit: some have £1,000 limit. You really do need to check and think: ‘What am I taking with me?’

Trudgill furthered his statement: “Golf clubs can be valuable, so look at what the limit is on your travel insurance to see whether it covers the golf clubs. It depends on whether you are playing for fun or playing in a competition. If you are playing in a competition then you will probably need some kind of specialist insurance.”
