A company specialising in travel insurance for the UK medical tourism market has been unveiled.
Angelis Insurance is offering travel insurance which covers medical treatment, cosmetic surgery abroad and dental remedy.
The launch comes only eight months after a similar product- Health Traveller was introduced to the market to boost medical tourism. The policy is underwritten by Cassidy Davis Insurance Group.
According to Angelis Insurance, cover is provided for all of the standard travel insurance terms in addition to extra benefits relating to the policyholder’s treatment including extended stay or the need for further consultation during the trip.
The insurance also covers out of pocket expenses incurred in cases where a follow up appointment overseas is needed within 12 months of treatment. Additionally, cover options are offered to consumers travelling with Angelis’s policyholders.
Angelis Insurance is owned by Leila Wilcox, the winner of TV show Make me a Million, a Channel Four which challenged participants to make a million in a year.
In 2005, her children's toiletries company Halos and Horns reportedly attracted an annual turnover of £9.7m in its first 12 months. Wilcox sold Halos and Horns in 2006 and two years later helped found Medicetics Skin Clinic, a company which offers non-invasive cosmetic surgery.
