According to recent findings, there has been a large increase in people who are keen to climb Mount Kilimanjaro. This comes after a group of celebrities, including Girls Aloud members, Cheryl Cole, Kimberly Waters and presenter, Fearne Cotton, recently climbed the mountain for Comic Relief.
Adventurous British holiday goers, who are planning to undertake such a challenge, may find that a traditional travel insurance policy does not cover them for the activities and should check the small print before jetting off, to ensure that they are covered for activities such as mountain climbing.
Altitude sickness is something that affected some of the celebrities who went on the climb and may not be covered by some insurance policies.
Krissy Roe, who is the spokesperson for responsibletravel.com, said that interest from the public in climbing the mountain has increase 12-fold.
She said: "With the Comic Relief coverage of the charity trek, that's had an impact and obviously seeing celebrities climbing a mountain [has too], particularly Cheryl Cole."
The website, responsibletravel.com currently offers more than 20 different Kilimanjaro trips, which may be of interest to adventurous travellers.
