The travel insurance industry have reported a surge of enquires as the summer months loom, but have Issued prudent advice for potential customers on how not to invalidate their cover.

According to Confused.com, they have noted a 63 per cent increase In the amount of people wanting to know more about travel Insurance compared to this time last year.

Head of travel insurance at Confused.com Steve Williams said: "It's clear is that consumers are becoming more aware of the benefits and peace of mind travel insurance can bring."

But, a note of caution should be heard as a recent survey has discovered that around 70 per cent of holidaymakers were unaware that they would not be covered for mishaps as a result of excessive alcohol consumption.
