Consumers have been warned not to forgo travel insurance during the credit crunch after a recent report revealed that up to a third of cash-strapped holiday makers are changing their travel plans to save money.
Instead of the traditional two week break, many are now opting for shorter but more frequent ‘mini-breaks’ around the UK and abroad to cut down the cost of holidays. In addition to this, another survey recently conducted by the Post Office revealed that up to a quarter of consumers are planning to forget about travel insurance as they try and keep spending to a minimum.
Holiday-makers have been reminded that travel insurance is still very important, even if the trip only lasts for a weekend. It has been suggested that those opting for weekends away should consider annual cover, which could prove cheaper for those taking multiple holidays in a year than taking out individual policies for each trip.
