According to new findings from Loughborough University, people would prefer to reduce the energy consumption within their houses rather than give up on flying for a year.
The findings reveal that out of the people surveyed, nearly 88 percent claimed that they would like to reduce the amount of energy usage in their homes. However, only 26 percent of the sample space stated that they would abandon air travel for a year.
In the year 2012, the air duty for passengers travelling short distances was likely to increase by £12. However when asked to name an amount as the rise in price of air duty, which would deter them from short distance air travel, nearly 80 percent said £50.
The findings of the research by the University of Loughborough concluded that the higher prices in airfare would act as a bigger deterrent to travellers than harm to the environment.
The UK government is expecting the number of passengers opting for air travel to increase in the year 2030 to double from 250 million to 500 million. Travel insurance companies are now taking advantage of this fact and offering travel insurance that is made especially for the environmentally aware and foe sensitive traveller.
