Travel insurance groups have urged families planning to go abroad this winter to purchase cover.
Research has shown that Brits spend an average of £666 to cover the cost of their children’s accidents or injuries whilst on holiday.
The study also revealed that 2.5 million parents were worried about their children’s health ahead of the journey.
Therefore, insurers have advised parents to purchase insurance for peace of mind and to save money. Rachel Croft, from an insurance group, said that problems on vacations were “no more exotic” than what children come down with at home.
“But when your child is unwell on holiday and you aren't surrounded by home comforts, it can be particularly worrying and difficult to know what to do.
“Having comprehensive travel insurance is important - during distressing times it's important to know that someone can help with arranging extra accommodation, transport, or repatriation if needed,” she said.
