The biggest football match in decades kicks off on Wednesday night, but both Manchester United and Chelsea fans have been warned by a leading insurance company to ensure they are adequately covered before venturing out to Moscow.
Direct line has expressed their fears that many would be travellers have not made the appropriate preparations to travel and return safely.
Without any type of insurance a serious injury could set you back to the tidy sum of £25,000. Direct line however has offered customers a wide range of travel and medical insurance aimed at those oh so passionate football fans.
Under the terms of their offer Direct line are willing to provide up to £500 covers for lost or stolen pre-paid tickets to the match along with lost passport cover. Our policies also offer legal assistance and third party liability cover in line with the standard terms and conditions of our travel insurance policies.
Chris Price, Head of Travel Insurance at Direct Line, says, "While it is easy to get excited about the first ever all-English final, fans should prepare adequately for an overseas trip. They should ensure they have the right travel insurance in place to cover them for incidents which may occur while away including medical emergencies, loss of passports, legal assistance and trip cancellation which can be very costly and inconvenient at the best of times.
‘’With air ambulance evacuations costing up to £25,000, a serious accident or injury can result in financial disaster for fans without insurance. A stay in a private hospital in Moscow which offers reasonable levels of treatment can cost up to £1,500 a day, plus any specialist expenses.’’ Mr Price added.
Mr Price continued; "we also offer group discounts for up to 16 adults travelling together. So if you and your friends are heading to the Champions League Final, you can benefit from a discount on a group policy which ensures you have the cover you need.’’
