According to a leading van insurance provider, compared to any other motorists on the road, vans are the cleanest.
A recent report based on research conducted by Swinton suggests that van owners spend the most amount of time cleaning their vehicles amongst other vehicle owners.
According to a survey comprising of a sample space of 2000 van owners with van insurance, van owners spent the longest amount of time cleaning and maintaining their vehicles.
The survey puts the figure at 42 minutes per week as the average time taken by van owners to clean their vans, compared to motorcyclists, who according to the findings of the survey, spend approximately 31 minutes cleaning their bikes each week.
Car drivers spend 21 minutes per week cleaning their vehicles during the same period of time on average.
The poll also stated that white vans were the most thoroughly cleaned; taking up the most amount of van owners attention, while silver ones came in next followed by red vans taking the least amount of time and attention to be cleaned.
According to Phil Moss, the commercial vehicle manager at Swinton, the findings are supposed to be encouraging to van drivers, dispelling the stereotype of ‘dirty van driver.’
He also stated that van drivers need to keep their vans and especially their windows clean to ensure maximum visibility reducing accidents and keeping the van insurance premiums minimal.
