In 2003 the AA carried out an in depth research into road users and the results were interesting to say the least. Their findings, especially in relation to van drivers still proves true today which is a comfort for those that never believed the cliché about van drivers being the most dangerous on the road. Their findings contributed to the reduction in insurance cover costs for van drivers invariably saving both individuals and businesses large amounts of money.
Interestingly the research highlighted that the average van driver went some “four and a half years without making a claim” and that a mere “17 per cent of van drivers claim on their motor policies a year” a huge difference when compared to the “25 per cent of car drivers”!
Similarly Tesco’s recent survey on the same subject highlighted that “one in five van drivers have been on an advanced driving course or have had some further driving training”. All these elements contribute to reducing your van insurance premiums, the savings from which are pocketed by the customer.
