This year has seen a massive boom in those offering van insurance. No longer a market being monopolised by the big players such as RAC and Norwich Union, rather there has been a few surprising additions to the face of van insurance.
Some of these include not only the major banks but also the smaller ones, as well as these you have the smaller insurance companies who yesteryear focused on providing car cover. Budget and Saga are but a few of the providers shaking things up a little bit in the sector. The question is; have they provided healthy competition or just more confusion?
One of the problems with the mini boom in van insurance choices is that it makes it harder to make a final choice. Although “experts always say that no two policies will ever be exactly the same” a lot of them look nearly identical with discrepancies being but a few pounds offered in say liability or personal possession cover.
Either way it can be a mine field out there for van drivers especially if they readily accept “the ‘white van man’ cliché and assume that they will be treated as high risk motorists”. Such an approach makes the van driver more blaze about the market and thus ready to sign up after the first quote offered, which incidentally is usually an expensive one!
