An organisation is calling for more emphasis on investigations following road accidents, van insurance customers may like to know.
According to the Association of British Drivers (ABD), the government has failed to pay attention to adopt a different attitude to road collisions despite having had urged them over many years to put more emphasis on ensuring lessons are learnt to prevent accidents.
The ABD criticized the way accidents are currently being dealt with by stating that it is ineffective.
It stated that instead of focusing on who was to blame, the government should focus more on the real causes of the collisions.
Chairman of ABD, Brian Gregory said: "The current solution to any accident seems to be to reduce the speed limit and put up a camera."
The RAC Foundation is now calling for a full investigation on serious road accidents to find the cause of the accident instead of finding out who is to blame.
ABD spokesman Nigel Humphries said: “We are pleased to see the RAC Foundation saying what the ABD has been saying for many years. Every accident has multiple causation factors and often all parties involved could have done something to prevent the crash even when not strictly blameworthy.
Whilst punishing those at fault is sometimes justified, it is far more important to investigate all factors to establish what can be done to prevent similar accidents in future.”
