A van insurance company has urged drivers to not leave tools in their vehicle overnight.
The warning comes after the insurer experienced a 13% rise in claims for the first week of the New Year in 2008. It believes such claims were a result of damage done to vans from attempted thefts for brand new tools.
Therefore the firm has recommended that drivers should remove all sorts of tools from their vans overnight to reduce the chances of a theft.
Phil Moss, manager at the company stated: “Van drivers need to be more security conscious after Christmas when thieves are likely to target in the hope of stealing brand new tools. It is really important that van drivers remember to remove tools from the back of the van overnight to reduce the risk of damage to vans.”
