With weather reports of snow again this week, van insurance motorists have been urged to take care when driving.
Van drivers have been recommended to carry an emergency kit in the back of their vehicle in case they are involved in an accident or break down.
The kit should be made up of a fully charged mobile phone, ice scraper and de-icer, torch, warm clothes, blanket, a pair of boots, first-aid kit, battery jump leads and a snow shovel.
Insurance groups have also urged drivers to only travel if vital, to check oil and water, to stay clear of black ice and try to stick to gritted major roads.
Phil Moss, Commercial Vehicle Manager at an insurance provider said: “Van drivers spend a lot of time on the road because of their work so it is vital they are prepared for the weather when it turns nasty. Driving during the winter can be extremely dangerous and can increase the chance of an accident and subsequent van insurance claims.”
